So last night saw Chickenhawk in the studio with me, talking Ghostbusters, Zombies and Bill Burray, with a few tracks thrown in there aswell. It was a great show, and we also gave away some free Chickenhawk merch. Thanks to anyone who listened.
If you didn’t manage to catch the show then the podcast will be available soon…
In other podcast news, the last three shows are finally now available here. This includes the shows from Fran Rodgers, Whiskas, and Ali from Dance To The Radio. Keep your eyes peeled as Chickenhawk will be up soon too.
In other exciting news i am off to York tomorrow night to interview Frightened Rabbit, and to watch their show. I can’t wait. Their previous album- The Midnight Organ Fight, is one of my favourites of the decade. No exaggeration. If you haven’t heard them then check them out on myspace etc. or have a listen to the video below:
An incredibly personal song which so many people can relate to.
The new record from FR came out on Monday, it’s called The Winter of Mixed Drinks and i’ve had it on pretty much non-stop. Suffice to say i’m looking forward to tomorrow.
I’ll post up the interview once it’s all editted, aswell as a review of the gig. Exciting.
Tonight on The Record Box will be Leeds premier metal outfit- Chickenhawk. From 9-10pm on 87.7 FM and LSRfm.com the guys will be in the studio choosing their favourite records and explaining why they like them so much.
We’ll be talking gigs, albums, zombies and more so tune in. We’ll also be giving away some FREE merch, so listen up for your chance to win.
Check out the zombie video for single ‘I Hate This, Do You Like It?’ featuring Leeds favourites including The Brude, Katie from Sky Larkin, and Hyde Park.

Should be ace.
In other news, Podcasts for the last 3 shows are up and sorted, i’ll be putting the links up in the next few days. Excellent.
So the first 3 shows have gone swimmingly. Massive thanks to Fran Rodgers, Ali Tant and Whiskas.
I’m currently podcasting, so the shows will be available to download soon- keep your eyes peeled.
In the mean time have a little bit of Local Natives- can’t stop listening to this at the moment, and desperately trying to get tickets to their show at the Brude on Saturday…
It’s Tuesday night so that means that The Record Box is on LSRfm.com tonight from 9-10pm
Usually i have a Leeds band/artist on but this week i’m donig something a bit different…Mr Ali Tant from Dance To The Radio records will be in the studio talking through his favourite records.
So tomorrow night (Tuesday) 9th Feb the show starts back proper…
Last week i was in the studio on my own playing the songs which mean the most to me, and i’ll get a podcast together for that show ASAP. But in the meantime…
I have the incredible Fran Rodgers in with me tomorrow, and i can’t wait to get back into doing The Record Box. I’ve just got a list of the songs, and there are some fantastic choices in there which should make for a really interesting listen. It’ll be on Tuesday from 9-10pm and you can listen exclusively at LSRfm.com.
If you haven’t heard or seen Fran before then she will be playing at the Brudenell on the 24th of Feb, and having seen her perform a few times i know it will be fantastic.
She often performs with a live cellist, and uses a loop pedal to create some really beautiful harmonies, and i’ll be talking to her about that tomorrow.
Also during the show we’ll be giving away a copy of Fran’s CD, so tune in to find out how to win!
While we’re on air you can get in touch and let us know what you think of the songs, as well as entering the competition and asking any questions…

So apologies for my abscence recently. Exams and all that. Nightmare.
I’ve also been creating the new daytime schedule for LSR, which is finally finished, and looks awesome. And The Record Box has been given the green light once again…this time we’re on:
I’m in the process of booking bands and the wishlist i made at the start of Christmas is looking to be filled (fingers crossed!) very exciting.
I’ve also been working with an awesome guy called Nathan Perkins who has designed some sweet flyers/posters for the show, and who is also going to be designing some stuff for the website. He’s a ridiculously nice guy and you can check out his work here.
If you want a cheeky sneak preview check this out.
Can’t wait to get back on air. As soon as details are confirmed for the first band/artist i will let you know. It should be a brilliant term…
Finally music wise my iPod has been filled with pretty much one artist this last week…The National. They’ve announced a new album and a one off date at the Albert Hall and excited is a huge understatement. Until we hear some new material have a watch of this from their brilliant 2007 album Boxer.
An unbelievably beautiful song from one of my favourite albums of the decade.
